Itineraries

Day 1

Tashkent, arrival

Arrive in Tashkent, welcome at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Check-in at 12:00 – 14:00. Sightseeing tour of Tashkent: Abdul Kasim Madrassah, Khast Imam Complex – a religious center of the city consisting of the Barakkhan Madrasah, Tillya Shaykh Mosque, Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum and the library of Islamic Literature with Uthman Quran of the VIII century. Explore traditional Chor-Su Bazaar. Lunch at local restaurant.
Visiting modern part of Tashkent: Amir Timur Square, Applied Art Museum, Earthquake Memorial, Independence Square. Welcoming dinner at local restaurant with folk show. Overnight in Tashkent.

Day 2

Tashkent – Urgench – Khiva

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for morning flight to Urgench. Arrive Urgench, transfer to Khiva. Leaving luggage at the hotel and starting city tour – walled inner town Ichan Kala (UNESCO WHS, XIV-XX CC) with Muhamad Amin Khan Madrassah, Kalta Minor Minaret, Kunya Ark, Muhamad Rahim Khan Madrassah, Juma Mosque and Minaret, Tash Hauli Palace, Islam Khodja Minaret and Madrassah, Shirgazi Khan Madrassah, Pahlavan Mahmud Mausoleum. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight in Khiva.

Day 3

Khiva

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive outside Khiva to visit the archaeological monuments of Ancient Khorezm. In written sources of the Arab conquest period, Khorezm is called a country of "tens of thousands of fortresses". This region is a real gem for archaeologists. In fact, today in the Khorezm region archaeologists have found dozens of ancient cities, ruins of former powerful castles and royal palaces. The most famous of them are Toprak Kala, Kyzyl Kala, Ayaz Kala (“Kala” is translated as a fortress.) Even today, the colossal sizes of the ruins impress with its magnificence and power. Drive back to Khiva. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight in Khiva.

Day 4

Khiva – Bukhara

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Bukhara through Kyzylkum Desert (7-8 hours). Stop at Amudarya River bank. Lunch in a local café. Arrive in Bukhara, free time. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 5

Bukhara

Breakfast at the hotel. Starting city tour in Bukhara at 09:00. City tour with visits to the Ark Fortress – residence
of Bukhara khans (I-XX CC), Bolo Hauz Mosque (XVIII C), Samanids Mausoleum – Shrine of Ismail Samani and
other members of the Samanid Dynasty (IX-X CC), Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum – Saint Job's well (XII-XVI CC).
Lunch at local restaurant.
Continue sightseeing by walk: Poi-Kalyan complex with Kalyan Minaret (XII C) through orient bazaars with three trade domes of Toki Zargaron (XV C), Toki Sarrafon (XVI C), Toki Telpak Furushon (XVI C), Ulugbek Madrassah (XV C), Abdulazizkhan Madrassah (XVII C). VisiƟng Lyabi Hauz complex consisƟng of Kukeldash
Madrassah (XVI C), Magoki AƩori Mosque now used as a carpet museum (XII C), Nadir Divan-begi Madrassah and Nadir Divan-begi Khanaka. You will also visit a synagogue of XVII century in Kukhma mahalla. Dinner at local house, master class on traditional bread (non) baking and making plov – Uzbek main dish. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 6

Bukhara

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we drive outside Bukhara for sightseeing: Sitorai Mokhi Khosa – summer residence of the last Emir of Bukhara, Chor Bakr Necropolis, Baghautdin Nakhshbandi Mausoleum – a center of Sufism. Drive back to Bukhara and visit Chor-Minor (Four Minarets, XIX C). Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 7

Bukhara – Gijduvan – Samarkand

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning drive to Samarkand (280 km, 4 hrs.) On the way you will visit the house of one of the famous ceramic masters in Gijduvan to enjoy the technique of making pottery from local clay and later stop to see the ruins of the XI century caravanserai Malik Rabat and Sardoba. Arrive in Samarkand. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight in Samarkand.

Day 8

Samarkand

Breakfast at the hotel. We will start sightseeing from gem of Samarkand – Registan Square and three madrassahs (religious study centers) surrounding the square: Ulughbek Madrassah (XV c), Sher-Dor Madrassah (XVII c), and Tillya-Kari Madrassah (XVII c) – covered with gold. Visit to Gur Emir Mausoleum – tomb of Tamerlane, Shakhi Zinda Necropolis – ensemble including mausoleums and other ritual buildings of IX-XIV and XIX CC, Ulughbek Observatory, built in XV century by Timurid ruler and astronomer, Bibi Khanym Mosque – built by Amir Timur
(Tamerlane) in XV century and Siyab Bazaar. Overnight in Samarkand.

Day 9

Samarkand – Termez

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning depart Samarkand, drive to Kitaband visit the Mausoleums of Sheikh Darwesh Mohammad as-Samarqandi and Mohammad Imkanky. In the afternoon continue driving to Termez via
Sherobod and visit Imam Termizi. Arrive in Termez and visit Hakim at Termizi, check in to the hotel. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. Overnight in Termez.

Day 10

Termez

Breakfast at the hotel. City tour in Termez – one of the oldest cities in Uzbekistan and ancient Buddhist center. Start sightseeing tour from Kokildor-Ota Khanaka, Fortress Kyrk-Kyz – a summer residence of Samani rulers, Sultan Saodat Ensemble, and Zurmala – Buddha's stupa. Continue to Buddhist archaeological site of Fayaz-Tepe and Mausoleum of Al-Hakim at-Termezi. Lunch and dinner at local restaurants. .Overnight in Termez.

Day 11

Termez – Baysun – Termez – Tashkent

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to visit Jarkurgan Minaret (1108-1109) in Minor village (38 km). Then drive to Baysun (100 km) – a town in Uzbekistan famous for unchanged way of life and cultural traditions of the local people. For example, people use plough for cultivating the land, women bake bread in clay ovens – tandyrs, etc. Baysun was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2008 in the Mixed (Cultural and Natural) category. You will visit Baysun Museum of Folk Arts and Crafts opened under support of the UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan. Lunch at homestay. Drive back to Termez and transfer to the domestic airport for evening flight to Tashkent. Farewell dinner. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Tashkent.

Day 12

Tashkent

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport. End of the tour.
